" Experience pays (literally).

Prior to meeting Ben we had plans prepared to submit for consent, but following his review and input we were agreed to make a number of changes which in the long run both saved us money and avoided unforeseen problems. Ben’s approach to solving problems was invaluable throughout the project as no matter how good plans and drawings are, there are always practical details and challenges to address during the construction process. KATIE AND LEIGH'S TESTIMONIAL

Building the dream.

With a section and a general idea of what we wanted we set out to find the right builder for our project. Much to our surprise we quickly discovered that this would be a harder task than expected!

Long timelines and Varying quality

Researching the market, we found that many builders had very long timelines. It was hard to get them to engage with us other than at a superficial level and getting clarity on the feasibility of our project proved difficult. We quickly got the feeling that many builders have trouble costing architectural projects with any accuracy in the early stages.

We may have sheep, but we are not sheep

By now we had also dealt with several of the conglomerates who wanted to herd us onto their conveyer belt, through the check-out and take up front fees to begin their cookie cutter design and planning process but as they were not providing us with any real comfort that we would achieve our goals with our available budget we continued looking for the right builder.

It’s not just about the money – You need a builder with broad skills and passion.

After some enthusiastic and lengthy telephone conversations Ben took us on a tour and showed us around some of his past projects. We were immediately struck by his honest self-appraisal of his work as he pointed out not only the things he was proud of, but also areas where he had faced challenges achieving the high standard he aspires to. Impressed with his energy, broad experience, quality focus and honesty we signed up with Ben for the building process.

Details, Detail, Details.

Throughout the process we had many phone calls and texts with Ben who put allot of thought into the build and involved us when decisions were indicated and you can see in the high quality finished result that this process paid off.

Timeline:

Site works began late February. Undeterred by bad winter weather, Ben and his crew got stuck in and the build progressed on schedule. With Ben’s team meeting all key milestones, as promised we were able to shift in just before Christmas.

In closing:

Choosing a builder is a challenging process and the end result is much like a marriage as both builder and customer need to get along well to achieve a good end result. We can’t speak highly enough of Ben and his crew who were polite and great to work with throughout the process.

The high standards they achieved in building the house on time and on budget are reflected and validated in the House of the year competition Gold awards they have won for our project.

Thanks Ben for helping us build the dream home we wanted,

Katie & Leigh

IT'S NOT JUST A PROJECT, ITS A PASSION.

People have the ability to do anything they put their mind to, there will always be slight differences, new challenges and ideas, innovations and practices. The skills, ability, and experience that is needed to rise to the challenge is the same process no matter what you do.

I just happens to be right at home building yours.

CLIENT TESTIMONY

" I am happy to say that we had made a wise decision in choosing Cashmore Contractors for our project. Since submitting our initial query, communication and progress into assessment was swift. Ben, was highly communicative throughout the entire project – he proactively provided us updates while making any necessary appointments with us. Talks were straight and clear-cut; as well as giving us realistic estimates, the scope of the project was exactly defined down to the minute details before starting – nothing was left to chance or potential surprises on our part. He and his crew were always punctual in turning up on-site, and very accommodating with our choices – both the finer ones, as well as the more exotic requirements. Ben has a keen eye for detail, and the resulting work did not disappoint. In fact, the quality of the finished work surpassed any of our expectations by far, and we feel in earnest that our money has been well-spent.

Cashmore Contractors is a fine exemplar that all builders should strive to emulate, both in terms of professionalism and quality of work. Working with Cashmore Contractors was a great pleasure, and I would unreservedly recommend them for anyone contemplating building or renovation work. Ben and his crew have our sincere gratitude for their stellar execution of this project."

CLIENT TESTIMONY

The following testimony is from a client whom came to me in desperation and had three one acre sections side by side of which they had owned since the 1950's and wanted to subdivide. This is in lieu of Kelly and Logan's of whom I have recently asked for one and will add in due course.

"To Whom It May Concern

This is to say we have known Ben Cashmore for about 12 months, when he offered to help with our subdivision project. He had noticed that the contractors we were employing did not seem to be doing a proper job. We asked him to take over the construction, and during the next months, he found the previous contractors had, in fact, made bad decisions, and their workmanship was poor. He therefore set about rectifying the problems, which meant re-doing most of the work. We now have a project which is nearly complete, and will soon be in a better financial position than we would have been if he had not helped us. He has helped us also with organising and liasing with engineers, surveyors, council, subcontractors, etc, something we do not have the experience to do successfully.

We have found the standard of workmanship and organization to be high, and are happy with the result.

It's fair to say that, without Bens help, we would now be in a much worse place.

Ben has shown himself to be a good organiser and manager, and his dealing with us have been fair, esuring that our needs were being met.

In our view, he has shown to be honest and helpful, and as part of what he has been doing for us, has done a lot organising which we found to be beyond our capabilities."
